i bought this because it is a required text for one of the classes i am taking in school. hitherto, the book content is good plus the hardcover makes it better. the best part is the portability of it. i like it.

Beginning to intermediate level

Ever wonder about the outputs that have the term plan in the PMBOK are ? i.e. Project Plan, Communication management plan or Risk management plan. This book gives template which are filled by the books example project a "water amusement park" with guidance on how to write them. And other templates such Request For Proposal and Status meetings. It will definitely shed light on what these articles are to the newcomer to the PMBOK or project management. However I was not overly impressed with the contents, perhaps the authors were trying to keep it generic and not too complicated for the reader. The CD ROM is an exact duplicate of the book in MS-Word format. So don't expect any more on the CD, a disappointment to me. The book seemed to be missing on templates for budgets, time keeping, work completed and more. Not for a seasoned project manager.

Good insights, but the Devil is in the details

I appreciated taking a look at the Apostles Creed, the Ten Commandments, and the Lord's Prayer from Luther's perspective, a refreshingly wholistic view. For example, Luther understands each prohibition in the Commandments as including a positive mandate - it is not enough to avoid stealing; one must actively work to prevent injustice which robs people of their needs.

As a Progressive Christian whose cosmology does not include a personified Satan, however, I found Luther's more than frequent references to the Devil as the source of trials and temptations to be less than helpful in my devotions. As a student of church history I was not surprised by this, but it was bothersome at points For the most part the devotional guide offers questions for meditation that allow one to draw a lesson from the text without requiring a personal Satan; in some instances, however, there was no such option.

Courtney Smith Kramer is Tom Cruise to my Cuba Gooding Jr., and she's got me shouting “show me the money!” right back at her through my kitchen cordless with this one.

Courtney slips straight-up real talk and data from science and anecdotes from actual people—who also know what they're taking about and also probably like being creative and having sex and social things—into a handsome package, sweetened with that's-what-she-saids and playful and jokes that any respectable teenage boy would snicker at too.

The author’s words poke each of us in the shoulder with a stern, unbent, Uncle Sam-looking index finger to say, “you're so money and don't even know or remember it, lady or man!!” and we don't feel the pain because we're still reeling at [peaceful, penis-fencing monkeys or “soft-handed windshield wiper action” or organizing a gynecocratic revolution or buying new loudspeakers].

You had me at "That's what she said"

I have a stack of books to read but I fast-tracked this book to the top of the list and read it right away. Courtney is the voice in my head when it comes to #ThatsWhatSheSaid; add in the massive amounts of facts, theories and concepts and you get this book. I have a critical thinking mind but have always had an aversion to the word "creativity" as I can't draw my way out of a paper bag or color within the lines. Kudos to Courtney for drawing parallels between creativity and sex; each chapter is an eye-opener and a mind-bender on how to jump start your creative mind. I feel smarter & inspired after reading "21 Reasons Creativity Is Like Sex" - isn't that the goal of any book?!

Iconoclastically creative Courtney Smith Kramer lures us into her world with the promise of a giggle and a bit of titillation, and then keeps us there. We find ourselves staying for the delight, the wit, the love of the topic. While others might have written the definitive tome on the subject, CSK uses her creativity to further reinforce her ideas. Breeze over a chapter, come back, go deeper, skim, repeat. It doesn’t matter how you attack her work and that is the beauty of her style. She proves her point on creativity by her very expression of it. It is beautifully pointed out that it is not linear and it is not metered. Creativity can be channeled and directed, if you know how. These ideas benefit not only those who consider themselves creative, but anyone who desires to find the best outcome to their obstacles. Without a doubt, this book will fully exercise your biggest sex organ (That would be your brain. Pervert!)

About the Author
Talat S. Halman is a leading translator of Turkish literature into English. Before establishing the Department of Turkish Literature at Bilkent University, Ankara, he taught at Columbia University, Princeton University, the University of Pennsylvania, and New York University. Halman is author and editor of more than sixty books, including Contemporary Turkish Literature, Modern Turkish Drama, and Suleyman the Magnificent Poet. He is editor of the Journal of Turkish Literature.

Jayne L. Warner is director of research at the Institute for Aegean Prehistory in Greenwich, Connecticut.
