Good read. Not great, but could be.

A good start. Would have gone into greater detail if I were the author, but this book should serve many a college student well. Seasoned advertising creatives can get high on this book as well, but they will need some extra references to make the most of it. Nearly all the examples in the book can be found in other tomes on the subject (such as Hey, Whipple! and Advertising Concept & Copy).

I have ordered for this book twice but I did not receive any of them, the first one was in April 26, 2013 order number #109-4248722-2252266 the estimated delivery date was June 13, 2013 and the second one was in September 26, 2013 order number #107-5738022-8162665, the estimated delivery date was November 8, 2013. I tried to track them with the tracking numbers but i did not get any result.

The media events he organized in the 1970s and 1980s -- with rock bands, ritual performances, and celebrity appearances -- helped to promote the "occult renaissance" in New York City. After decades of study in European, Asian, and Latin American cult centers, this book marks his first public appearance in more than twenty years.

AMAZING but it works

I don't care how many reviews are on here saying it is a bad book and a hoax. This stuff works. I have been using with great success these rituals for a number of years. These are very powerful sumerian forces and used under the right magical context this stuff will blow your mind. If powerful magick is what you are seeking try it. What did Crowley say??? Question everything, record your own results. ANyone who says this book is junk has not tried it. THese are most powerful!!!!!

THIS BOOK IS THE HOLY GRAIL ON PAPER!

...This book is basically the easiest way to hold the universe in your hand! I tried almost every spell in it and without exaguartion, ALL WORKED! It's so simple and unlike other magical arts, it focuses on the imagination and true will. Basically, all you need is two candles and a stick of incense, no herbs, no nothing, and your prayers will be answered in ways you can't imagine. It's good for everything, money, love, danger or even black magic and curses (be sure not to toy around with it). All in all, for the price, it's the best deal you'll ever have.

Hair-raisingly creepy...

I've always been fascinated by occult and other such works, and have collected numerous books on it (and those written by the infamous LaVey, while not neccessarily occult, seem to be filed in the same category). I'm not a practitioner of magick by any stretch, but merely a curious reader who takes heed the warnings stressed by the author, even just for safety's sake. But once I got a little curious bored staring at the title, so I began to sketch out some of the glyphs contained within them into a spiral notebook, while contemplating how much I was displeased with a friend of mine at school. The next day in a math class (which I had with that friend), I pulled out that spiral notebook (since it held my math homework). Opening it to the last page, I saw the glyphs I sketched the night before. 'Coincedently' he then tilted too far back in his chair and fell to the floor and began to choke on a Jolly Rancher he had in his mouth. The sheer eerieness of the situation made me torch that piece of paper (which had my homework on it -- lost credit for the assignment) While it's likely the two events weren't connected, it was enough to freak me out. Whether the authenticity of this information is far from being proven, one thing remains constant: the mind is a much more powerful beast than we let on. Perhaps texts such as these are merely a tool for focussing harnassing the arcane power locked away in that other 90% of unused brain space.
A word to the curious: be weary of these books. While I don't 100% believe it, you won't catch me even trying to summon some of these 'deities'. Too many other strange occurances happened to me while I read this book. For example, I was reading through some of the descriptions late at night, and finally got so tired I fell asleep at my desk (on the book, no less). I awoke around 2am from a nightmare of whirling brown shadows repeating the same thing over and over. Picking my head up off of the book, and turned a few pages *forward* (which I had not read before), and saw those words -- syllable for syllable. After scanning through the portion I had read, they were not repeated once...now how do you explain that?
Too creepy for me...they are locked in a metal filing cabinet in my closet as we speak ^^

About the Author

Tom Igoe teaches courses in physical computing and networking, exploring ways to allow digital technologies to sense and respond to a wider range of human physical expression. He has a background in theatre, and his work centers on physical interaction related to live performance and public space. He is a co-author of the book Physical Computing: Sensing and Controlling the Physical World with Computers, which has been adopted by numerous digital art and design programs around the world. Projects include a series of networked banquet table centerpieces and musical instruments; an email clock; and a series of interactive dioramas, created in collaboration with M.R. Petit. He has consulted for The American Museum of the Moving Image, EAR Studio, Diller + Scofidio Architects, Eos Orchestra, and others.

Warning, this book is a sample

The information in this book is good, solid, but it is simply a sample of from the "Making things Talk" book. 26% of the 44 pages are promotional, encouraging you to "upgrade" to the "real" book. Good information, but in general, less than ethical.

I found this to be interesting. I would have liked more extencive details but they were not in this book. It did describe how to use an Arduino for RFID.

About the Author
Eugene Bardach has been teaching graduate-level policy analysis workshop classes since 1973 at the Goldman School of Public Policy, University of California, Berkeley, in which time he has coached some 500 projects. He is a broadly based political scientist with wide-ranging teaching and research interests. His focus is primarily on policy implementation and public management, and most recently on problems of facilitating better interorganizational collaboration in service delivery (e.g., in human services, environmental enforcement, fire prevention, and habitat preservation). He also maintains an interest in problems of homeland defense regulatory program design and execution, particularly in areas of health, safety, consumer protection, and equal opportunity. Bardach has developed novel teaching methods and materials at Berkeley, has directed and taught in residentially based training programs for higher-level public managers, and has worked for the Office of Policy Analysis at the US Department of Interior. He is the recipient of the 1998 Donald T. Campbell Award of the Policy Studies Organization for creative contribution to the methodology of policy analysis. This book is based on his experience teaching students the principles of policy analysis and then helping them to execute their project work. Eric M. Patashnik teaches policy analysis at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, University of Virginia. He previously held faculty positions at Yale University and at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. Patashnik is a Nonresident Senior Fellow of the Brookings Institution, an elected fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, and the editor (beginning 2016) of the Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law. He received his Master's in Public Policy degree from the Goldman School of Public Policy, University of California, Berkeley. He served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of the Batten School from 2009-2012. Patashnik's research focuses on the politics of American national policymaking, especially health policy, the welfare state, and the role of Congress. He received the Jefferson Foundation Award for excellence in teaching at UVA. He is the author or editor of numerous books, including Reform at Risk: What Happens After Major Policy Changes Are Enacted which won the Louis Brownlow Book Award from the National Academy of Public Administration. Earlier in his career, Patashnik was a legislative analyst for the U.S. House Subcommittee on Elections.

Still the Gold Standard

This book remains the gold standard for introducing students to key issues in policy analysis. I have used it many times in teaching Policy Analysis courses for both students and practicing policy analysts. The new edition adds a lot of helpful new material (e.g., discussions of choice architecture and an excellent new chapter on policy design) that will be helpful to students struggling to think systematically about how to assess policy alternatives. Despite its broad scope, it is still quite compact. It is too dense to have students read through for a single class session, but works very well when assigned in chunks--e.g., on selecting criteria and alternatives, assembling evidence, and learning from "smart practices" in other political jurisdictions and policy sectors. Applying the analytical framework of the Eightfold Path with empirical case materials provided by the instructor helps students develop skills in utilizing the framework. Other books like Stokey & Zeckhauser, Wheelan and Weimer & Vining concentrate on economic and technical analytical skills that are essential to policy analysis, but no other sources covers the process of policy analysis with the same depth and insight as Bardach and Patashnik.

A must read for all relevant Relationships!

I found this book to be vitally informative, with many essential tips for people whom have been married or are in a serious relationship. It also includes gay and lesbian relationships and is intuitively riveting. Dr. Asaad is brilliant and my husband and I learned a lot from reading such an inspiring book! I recommend it highly, and without reservation. It is a must read!
Furthermore, this Doctor has a vibrant and uplifting personality. I sent this book to my close friends and they are all grateful. There is always something new to learn to improve our relationships. Dr. Ghazi Assad should be on Oprah's Own network as he brings rays of sunshine into peoples lives!!

About the Author
Alan Clark was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford. He served in the Household Cavalry before qualifying for the Bar in 1955. In 1974 he became Conservative MP for Plymouth Sutton and went on to hold a number of ministerial posts. He wrote several works of military history: The Fall of Crete, Barbarossa: The Russo-German Conflict 1941-45 and Aces High: The War in the Air over the Western Front. He also published his Diaries. Alan Clark died in 1999.

A must-read for the military historian

The title comes from the German view of the English soldiers who charged into their machine guns and barbed wire: "Lions led by donkeys." The donkeys were the professional officers of the British army that was destroyed in those battles, officers who were unable to adapt to the awful technology that changed the face of war forever. When I was studying under Michael (now Sir Michael) Howard at All Souls in 1972-4, he insisted that this book should be read by anyone who wanted to understand the early phase of the Great War. It is a classic and must be read by anyone trying to understand the impact of the War on the English people, and the shock of the early battles on the perception of the British military of what needed to be done. It is judgmental to be sure, and would not be the only source one would need to understand this critical transition, but it is nonetheless an essential text.

They Deserved Better

This little gem is full of irony, including the title. The donkeys are not the British foot soldiers who slogged to their deaths in record numbers during World War I - there were more British dead in the first two hours of Loos than causalities suffered by ALL sides on D-Day during World War II. The donkeys are the leaders, starting with Sir John French and going down through virtually all others making serious strategic decisions during the opening phase of the war. The British professional army, which was virtually wiped out by 1915 (replaced by volunteers and conscripts of the New Army), was made up of lions the author asserts. Clark finds the professional army done in by terrible leadership, the new arms and a failure to appreciate their lethality (Haig wrote, for example, "The machine gun is a much-overrated weapon and two per battalion is more than sufficient" and "wastage" (illness and accident). In the entire war, there were only three actual "breakouts" by the British: during the first days of Neuve Chappell and Loos in 1915 and Cambrai in 1917 and these were quickly dissolved by mismanagement and vigorous German counter attacks. A scathing indictment of British military leadership during World War I. Despite some recent revisionist views (including those of John Keegan), this earlier cut of the material still rings true.

"Too short."

The only thing really wrong with this book is that it only covers 1915. Otherwise, it gives a dismal, heartbreaking account of the way the British commanders on the Western Front destroyed what was left of their pre-war army, and failed to learn anything during the process. I wish Clark had covered the entire war.

Highly recommended.
