Good book to have if you are an art student

I purchased this book as a extra study guide to go along with my Oil-painting class. This book was very helpful in supplying a large amount of information on many artististic movements that have occurred through out history. The only draw back to this book is I wish it had more pictures having to do with each movement, it only supplies one for each movement or for each artist who was considered the foremost authority in this movement.Beside that the book is very helpful and resourceful.

The great thing about this book is how many distinct art movements are defined here (hundreds)...
Each synopsis provides a summary of each style, blending in the history and players - sometimes including some social ideals or philosophies behind the movements. Superb!
I first assumed i would just browse the descriptions as a reference - after seeing how insightful the text was, i read the whole thing through... very rewarding...
Quality of the book/binding/color/layout is very good...
Even though there is 1 or more examples for each style, it would have been nice if there were a few more, however, a minor point considering how refreshing and well done this book is...

This book gives an excellent overview of art history. The foldout time line at the beginning gives a clear picture of how the different movements and styles overlap and occur through time. Each section also gives a list of key books that you can further your reading. The language is easy to understand and good images are provided with each section. This is a good all-round book to understanding art history.

A fun read and I recommend it to romance and adventure series buffs.

Jennifer who hasn’t felt very well, resolves to go along on the extravagant escapade, an excursion over the Atlantic in her sister’s fiancés private jet. Greyson proposed to Bethany and arranged the trip. It just worked out Tracy was requested to participate in the Art de Magnifigance exhibition at the renowned Annonciade Museum in France, at the same time. Jennifer’s, terrible at holding relationships and gets paranoid she can’t keep a man. She decides to do what it takes to keep one, even if it means taking a guy from one of her sisters. She ends up going for Blaze, the good-looking, undercover agent, who in recent times saved The Sea View from devastation. But there’s a bit of a problem; Blaze is head over heels for Tracy and makes a surprise visit to France to see her. Blazing Love, is a tangled ball of thread that only gets more knotted up with tumultuous episodes. It’s an adventure, linking forgotten relations, noble descendants and treachery. A fun read and I recommend it to romance and adventure series buffs.

A bit of everything: mystery, romance, suspense and sex.

I really enjoyed reading this story. It takes us from Texas to the south of France and gives a bit of everything: mystery, romance, suspense and sex. Actually I was surprised at the graphic description of the erotic encounters between the two couples in the story and felt that they didn’t really fit into the atmosphere of the rest of the book. Mind you, I am no prude, but you don’t expect Sherlock Holmes to jump in bed with a dame and read in detail what they are doing in their intimate encounter. It just isn’t that kind of story. Luckily, these sex encounters are brief and few and I quickly skipped over them in order to continue reading the story which has a happy ending, something that I like. If you are looking for a short novel that you can read in one evening, this may be just what you are looking for.

I enjoyed book 2 of the Carlisle sisters just as much as I did the first; maybe more. Grey and Beth make a great duo. As does Blaze and Tracy. Great twist with the villain in this story.

Illuminating & insightful

Have always been a fan of Richard Moore's writing, it rarely pulls any punches. Presumably this short portrait of Brailsford will form part of a larger, more comprehensive tome on its subject in due course. Well worth a read!

I enjoyed the profile but it didn’t fire on all cylinders ...

Just finished listening to the audio version of the book. Overall I am torn. I enjoyed the profile but it didn’t fire on all cylinders for me.

The first twenty minutes of the audio was exceptionally negative and I felt it was the wrong way to start the profile. I understand when it came out, doping was all over the news but to me it seemed like such a downer.

But after that I found the profile much more worthwhile and enjoyable. It wasn’t positive or negative but more of a snapshot of the person and his journey to the top. Some good. Some bad. It gave me some insight into Brailsford but I would have liked more. It was excellent on background but didn't dig deep on one area.

Was a bit confusing not to find paperback version from anywhere, but then the experience of reading
It as sort of long newspaper article in iPad cleared it. Clarified, as would sir DB probably state. Less human capital management as I expected, but nevertheless - worth purchasing. Good insight and extra push for one who is looking some refreshing inspiration
